Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram uses sound waves to produce images of the heart. This common test allows clinician to see any structural heart problem, valve defects, congenital heart problems, wall functioning and pumping of blood.

This simple, painless test uses an ultrasound probe and gel on the skin of the chest. The probe sends and receives ultrasound waves to create videos of the heart. This is the same technology that is used to monitor babies during pregnancy.
